FULL DESCRIPTION

Visit the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of Rome’s four patriarchal basilicas and one of the most significant Catholic churches in the world. Begin your visit in the archaeological area, where you can discover interesting artifacts, a rare fresco calendar with scenes of agricultural work. You will then move on to the Liberian museum, where you can admire Ascent to Calvary by Giovanni Bazzi known as Sodoma, the Madonna and Child, St. Anthony of Padua and St. Catherine of Siena by Domenico di Iacopo di Pace, three tablets with the story of the Icona Salus Populi Romani. You will then visit the basilica and admire the spent mosaics in the loggia.
